Single mum and three kids to get a new home

KOTA
KINABALU: In two months, destitute single mother Rosnia @ Annie
Marambal and her three children will finally have a decent roof over
their heads.
Work has started on their new home, following a report in
The Star
six months ago that the 36-year-old woman and her three children were
living in a dilapidated shack at Kampung Kandawayon in the northern
Kudat district.

The word had reached Matunggong state assemblyman Sarapin Magana,
who
sought RM40,000 from the Federal Government's housing fund for the
hardcore poor to build a new house at Kampung Rukom Darat, 230km from
here, for the family.
“Construction is progressing well. The walls are coming up,” Sarapin said when asked about the progress of the house.
Teachers, parents and students of SK Parapat Darat collected the initial funds after
The Star carried the
story of Rosnia and her children Fiona Tai Chong, 14, Norhayati Maratim, 11, and Frederik, nine.

The
Malaysian Girl Guides Association, led by state chief Datin Naomi Chong
also visited the family to hand over foodstuff and a RM2,500 aid that
was partly contributed by Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the Prime
Minister.
Sports club KGK Annex donated RM15,000 that was used to buy the piece of land at Kampung Rukom Darat for the house.
